34 35 \ ALTITUDE culture Each image tells a story sparking curiosity and emotion. With more than 21 years' experience in the resort, this gallery has become a landmark for lovers of the eighth art. Christophe Pito, himself a photographer, set up the gallery in 2008 in premises nearby before moving across the road to its current home. As well as selling works of art, Regards offers professional photography services. This double role enriches the visitor experience, allowing visitors to not only admire the exceptional photographs, but also to understand the technical expertise and creativity behind each image. From portraits through to reportage and event photography, the gallery’s photographers show off their expertise in a wide range of projects. This synergy between the exhibition and professional services reinforces the identity of Regards, as a major player in the world of photography in the region. CAPTURING THE MOMENT Specialising in contemporary art, Regards showcases spectacular, joyful and accessible works, while cultivating a professional approach to staging art. "We're not just a gallery,” explains Laurent Grimberg, who works with Christophe Pito. “In winter especially, but in summer too, the photographers we work with roam the resort to capture moments of life, whether on the slopes, in restaurants or at events such as weddings or birthdays", The gallery's real artistic signature are the panoramic mountain photos taken from a helicopter, then printed in high definition using ChromaLuxe. This metal sublimation printing technique gives the images remarkable depth and luminosity. Mounted on metal frames, the work stands out as elegant sculptures in themselves. A BOLD VISION Unlike many galleries that have opted for the deposit-sale model, Regards buys the works it exhibits. This reflects a genuine editorial policy. "This way of working commits us to defending what we show and to making clear choices. Through our selections, we affirm our vocation as an art gallery that focuses solely on photography," adds Laurent Grimberg. Far from limiting itself to classic photography, Regards also explores the new trends that are shaping its field. It's an approach that's proving very popular : ‘It's very fashionable, and it's working very well,’ says Laurent Grimberg. WORKS THAT RESONATE Visitors are immediately struck by the vibrancy and warmth of the displays that emanate from the gallery walls. Colour dominates, with themes frequently inspired by nature, mountain peaks and scenes of Alpine life. All the works are produced entirely in France, including the frames, stretchers and prints. This choice has beenmade to guarantee impeccable quality. Despite these high standards, prices remain affordable. The gallery is aimed at a clientele who want to treat themselves to a unique piece without necessarily investing too much. The public in Crans-Montana is international, demanding and curious. Visitors to the gallery take their time, observing, comparing and, often, leaving with a work of art. Some have even entrusted the gallery with the entire decoration of their interior, proof of the relationship of trust that its organisers have built up over the years. It has to be said that the services provided go far beyond simple sales. "We visit customers in person to give them better advice. We can also bring physical works to test in their chalets, flats or any other location. These made-to-measure services, specific to the gallery, are very much appreciated," adds Christophe Pito.
