58 local life Since 1 May 2021, a new era has begun for this cellar, a precious heritage handed down to Michael Bonvin by his grandfather. The winemaking adventure was sealed with the launch of the first official vintage in 2020, revealed to the world of connoisseurs in 2021. For Michael, it’s a passion that began when he was just seven years old, when he was treading the vines for the first time. At the end of his primary school years, a 300-square metre plot was reserved for him, indelibly sealing his love for this wine-growing land. His winding road from carpentry school to the bewitching world of the vineyards is marked by key moments. A spell with Fils Charles Favre winemakers in Sion, followed by an apprenticeship with Rouvinez in Sierre, shaped his career path, leading him to take over the reins of the winery, formerly in the hands of his grandfather. Between Miège and Flanthey, its vines have been flourishing without herbicides for over six years now. However, a new project is taking shape, a transition to organic farming thanks to the use of mechanised plots, to shape the future face of this company with its undeniable family roots, nestling in Montana Village. Among its treasures is Bella Lui, a blend of delicately sweet white wines that delight the taste buds with their softness and subtlety. Composed of Fendant, Petite Arvine and Muscat, this wine embodies the very essence of tastebud pleasure and is ideal for starting an evening in style. For red wine lovers, the Pinot Noir is a fruity symphony, the perfect touch for a refined aperitif, while the Plaine Morte is the ideal partner for exquisite meat. The next generation of wines promise much: the next grape variety to come, Divico, stands up as a robust variety against the whims of nature. From another angle, special barrels will be used, including a commemorative blend for the winery’s 5th anniversary, presented in an exclusive bottle, wooden box and 100% cork stopper. These precious bottles will also be adorned with an artistic label, fashioned by the expert hand of her graphic designer cousin. Barrels of Syrah and Pinot Noir are also maturing in anticipation of a release scheduled for late 2024-early 2025. Michael says: «Let’s save the small cellar-dwellers!” It’s an invitation to enjoy a unique experience, where individual or group tastings by appointment come to life. Everyone is invited to immerse themselves in the authenticity and passion embodied by the Cave du Mont Bonvin. In the heart of sun-drenched vineyards, the Cave du Mont Bonvin is much more than a family heritage; it is the embodiment of a passion handed down from generation to generation. This vineyard, shaped by determination and a love of the land, has evolved with the times, embracing the challenges and developments of modern winemaking. Each glass tells its own story, the story of a tradition ardently preserved and new perspectives boldly explored.
