12 CRANS-MONTANA CLASSICS A SUMMER SEASON CELEBRATING REBIRTH culture Since its creation, more than 10 years ago, Crans-Montana Classics has reinvented itself. Determination, creativity and resilience are all values that the Association has had the chance to develop during the pandemic. This summer, the public will be able to enjoy musical evenings of great diversity and quality. Far from the elitist image from which classical music continues to suffer, the programming of the summer of 2022 aims to highlight great composers known to all and to showcase others who may surprise the audiences. After the great success of the last two years, the concept of "Music on the Golf Course" is being expanded and two events are proposed in this mythical place: A "enchanting" concert on August 5th, which, like the two previous editions, will offer a programme of opera arias, songs, as well as some of the most popular symphonic extracts. On the theme of "Romance", we will evoke all the facets of love, its sorrows and its most communicative joys. The Valéik Philharmonik Orchestra will be conducted by Margaryta Grynyvetska, a brilliant young conductor from the Ukraine who has fled the war in her country and is now a refugee in Germany. On 13 August, this idyllic site will be the setting for the "Tango" concert. This music, which originated in Argentina, has become universal because of the deep emotions it arouses. The craze is worldwide and has not waned since the Tango, especially thanks to Astor Piazzolla, emerged from the Milongas of Buenos Aires and took over the concert halls of the whole world. Two Argentinean dance couples will continue the spirit of Romance that will reign on the Golf course this summer. Between these two events, the String Quartet Master Classes led by the Jerusalem Quartet will once again allow four young ensembles to perfect their skills at a very high level. Don't miss the concerts and Master Classes of these masters of the noblest and most perilous of arts, the string quartet! Finally, in September, to finish the season in style, three exceptional concerts, which perfectly illustrate the desire of CMClassics to extend its programming to the borders of the so-called "classical" world: On 10 September, the Duo W, unique in its ability to combine the sounds of the organ and the saxophone. On the 17th, the hilarious duo of Igudesman & Joo, virtuoso violinist and pianist, who combine humorous and musical talent like no other. Their show has already been acclaimed by audiences on all five continents before arriving on our High Plateau. And finally, on the 25th, Moncef Genoud on the piano will offer an evening dedicated to Jazz, through his own compositions and great "standards" that you will find with happiness. As you can see, CMClassics is once again offering an eclectic programme, through song, dance, tango, opera and humour - enough to satisfy the most demanding, and to offer tourists and residents of the region a wealth of beauty and inspiration, whatever their age or musical tastes!
